What is the Citizenship Exam?

The citizenship exam is a requirement in order to obtain Danish citizenship. The exam tests whether you have sufficient knowledge of Danish social conditions, Danish culture and history.

The exam is held twice a year. You can see when the next 2 Citizenship exams will be held under "dates".

What does the exam consist of?

The Citizenship exam lasts 45 minutes and consists of 45 questions. 35 of the questions are based on the study material - you can find the study material right here.

In addition, the exam consists of 10 unprepared questions. Comprising, 5 of the questions are current, which means that they are based on events that have taken place in the past 6 months (prior to the exam). The remaining 5 questions are revolved around Danish values. 36 correct answers are required to pass and you must answer at least 4 out of 5 of the questions about Danish values ​​correctly. 

The exam is a multiple-choice, which means there will be several different answer-options for each question. You must therefore cross off the answer you think is correct.
